Not many people can say that they moved across the country (from Pennsylvania to Oklahoma) while 21 weeks pregnant with nothing but their spouse and a suitcase. I am one of those people.
My name is Jennifer Elliott and am 22 years old. I am expecting my first child, a boy, to be named Ace Lee Elliott. I have lived in the same house in Pennsylvania since I was 3 years old. I have never been away from home for more than a week.
My boyfriend, Jason, and I decided to move to Oklahoma because he had better job opportunities here. I had quit my job bartending at the local bowling alley and we headed out here on a two day train ride. I left behind the only place I've ever known, my family, and my cat of 11 years. I left during the most important time of my life; my first pregnancy.
Don't think we have been living out on the street or in a shelter. We have been staying with Jason's brother (the only family member out here) while Jason has been trying to find a job. He found one a few weeks ago and now we are just looking for an apartment.
I am the kind of person who will try anything once. I will never pass up an opportunity to hang out with my friends or family. I miss them so all so much. I cannot wait until my son is born and I get to see his face for the first time.
I absolutely LOVE to sing even though I never sing in front of anyone. Music is my life. I haven't really played any instruments other than when I was a kid. I used to play the clarinet and the bells in church. I wouldn't survive if it weren't for music...music on the radio, youtube, in my head...music anywhere. I love all kinds of music...country, rap, hip-hop, rock, oldies...I find music puts me in the best of moods.
Other than that, I used to write poetry. I haven't written any in about a year. I've been thinking about getting back into...just haven't done it for some reason.
I have always enjoyed writing.
I come from a single family. My dad passed away shortly before my 2nd birthday. I have always wished to grow up being my father's 'little princess', but God had other plans. I am looking forward to the day we get to meet again. My older brother, named Jason (same name as my boyfriend) is 6 yrs older than me. My mom did a wonderful job raising me and my brother. Her and I have had our share of arguments. In fact, we always seemed to fight. Things between her and I have gotten much better as I have been getting older. Now, things have been even better since I became pregnant. Even though we used to argue a lot, I always felt that disappointing my mother was the worst thing I could do.
I am an optimist and am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for me and everyone in my life. I love you all.
I just started working on a website. Check it out at http://jennyleigh.co
